Credit card surcharges on the rise in Singapore

Wan Ling sent me this picture of a store in Singapore.

"Saw this in Vivo City early this week," she says. "Seems like surcharging is coming alive in Singapore. Oh, by the way, there was also another Amex promotion going on at the same time in the same store that’s giving 10% discount. Take a guess on which card I chose to pay with?"

By coincidence, I saw a related sign in the UK today. I can't post a Flickr link here directly ("your HTML cannot be accepted") so I created a blog post and put it here...

Thanks for this series. . .

I'm always intrigued by how merchants attempt to "cover cost" and usually end up driving behaviour.

I've ruminated on why this type of charge isn't as prevalent in the US on my blog.
